1) Rate the emotional intensity level of the feeling you are working on from 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest intensity.
2) Using the traditional EFT format, formulate a statement.
"Even though I have this _____(state the problem)____, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
A choice could also be substituted for the second part of the statement.
Example:
, I choose to be calm and peaceful.
3) PR (Psychological Reversal) correction. - Say the statement three times while rubbing the sore spots or tapping the karate chop point.
- Sore spots are located on the chest 3 inches down from the V-shaped notch at the top of the sternum, then going about 3 inches out to the left or right. Rub around until you find where you are sore.
- The karate chop point is located on the side of the hand where you would do a karate chop at the end of the heart line on the palm.
4) Tap these points while using a reminder statement such as this sharp pain in my wrist. (Graphic used permission of mercola.com)
TH = Top of Head
EB = Beginning of the Eye Brow
SE = Side of the Eye
UE = Under the Eye
UN = Under the Nose
Ch = Chin
UCB = Under the Collar Bone
UA = Under the Arm
5) Rate your intensity level again. Repeat tapping procedure as needed until the level is 0 if possible. It is often useful to tap for "this remaining ____________" or to say "Even though I still have some of this ________________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."
