Emotional Healing Leads to Physical Healing





It is estimated that at least 85 to 90% (if not more) of all physical problems have psychological roots. We all know that tension can cause headaches, fear can causing breathing restrictions, nervousness can cause sweaty palms, etc. It is clear that there is a definite relationship between our emotional and our physical self. Our emotions affect the physical body. Emotional healing has the potential to go a long way towards physical healing.

Emotional and Physical Connection

When first learning about physical illnesses and the emotions connected with them, I was confused. Why would anger be held in the liver, grief and sadness in the lungs, fear in the kidneys, etc? What was the reason for each emotion to go to a specific organ or place in the body? I struggled to make sense out of this.

Finally, I came across the answer in Caroline Mein’s book Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils 1. It is all about understanding energy and frequency. Caroline Mein states, page 6,

“Since each organ has a vibrational frequency, as do emotions, the emotions will settle in an area with a corresponding frequency.”


This was an “a-hah!” moment for me. Now it made sense. I was now willing to look deeper into the books that link the physical and the emotional together. Now I could see why it is possible to heal the physical issue when you heal the related emotional issue.

Finding the Connection

Four different books are available in looking up probable emotional causes to physical ailments. The first two are quite well-known. All four books are listed on my recommended reading page along with a short review.

Karol Truman has a separate chapter in her book with negative emotions listed and then three or four positive emotions listed after each one to replace the negative. Louise Hay’s book includes specific positive attitudes to develop for each particular problem. Daniel Condron’s book gives suggested improvement remedies for each problem.

The fourth book is by far the most extensive in linking the physical and emotional. It does not include positives to replace the negatives with. It contains strong language so there is a warning on the back that it is for mature readers only. You sometimes have to overlook the author's strong opinion about issues resulting from very dysfunctional family situations. Although this may often be the case, I don't believe it is always the case. One way or another this book is a fabulous reference book! Books Addressing Emotional Causes of Physical Ailments

If you would like to know probable causes for one or two physical issues that you have, I would be happy to look those up for you and e-mail what I find to you. Just contact me and let me know as specifically as you can the nature of the problem or where it resides in the body. If it is in the books I will give you an answer, but realize that not every disease or ailment is there.

Take what you have collected from the four books and then see how it might fit into your situation and the feelings that you have. Often there is a “bingo – that’s it!” Once there is something definite in mind then it is easy to go forward. Problems can now be tackled from a couple of different directions; 1) from the physical end and 2) from the emotional end.

Applying the Connection

Several options are available which tackle either the physical or the emotional or both. I believe if you are working on one you cannot help but affect the other. They go hand in hand. Choose what feels best for you. Try several different ones.
  • Use The Emotion Code to find and release trapped emotions within the body. This technique can help with both physical and emotional issues.

  • Formulate statements to use with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and get tapping. The statements can be used either on specific physical problems or on related emotional issues. Use what you have learned from the above books and probable causes. If you are not making progress on the physical then you most likely need to go deeper by addressing the emotional issues. Use the suggested positive thought patterns given in the books as a great starting point.

  • Use therapeutic-grade essential oils for the physical problems. They do a ton of good without adding harmful chemicals to your body. A lot of information is available in the Essential Oils Desk Reference.

  • Use the emotional oils in working with the emotions. This can be doing by following Caroline Mein's book Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils or they can be used on your fingers while using EFT/Tapping.

  • Reflexology is great to work with for physical issues especially if you are doing it for someone else. Combine essential oils with reflexology or with vita-flex technique for even more beneficial help.

  • Use “the script” given by Karol Truman in her book, Feelings Buried Alive Never Die. You will need to buy and read the book to know what I am talking about. “The script” is an optional method of accomplishing similar results to EFT. Some people may resonate with using the script more so than with EFT.

Enjoy yourself while experimenting with these various options. I cannot tell you how many laughs and good times I have had with my sisters and with friends while learning and working with these methods. Sometimes we have been amazed at how quickly something works. Other times we feel silly for tapping on ourselves and get the giggles. When it comes to sheer relaxation it is hard to beat a good foot rub. These are great together times and sharing of experiences.
