Energy Healing Basics

In order to understand how and why the various energy healing modalities work it is important to understand a few energy healing and body energy basics. These concepts tie all of the modalities together.

Universal Energy

There exists in the world and the universe a power or energy which fills all space and is in all things. Known in cultures for thousands of years, universal energy goes by many names; Life force, Universal life force, Chi or qi (China), prana (India and Tibet), Ki (Japan), Holy Spirit or Light of Christ (Christian). There are as many names for it as there are cultures. These are just a few of the more commonly known names.

This energy or power is available to everyone and is the life-force by which we are alive. Energy healing works with this source. A scripture within my religious belief system refers to this power or energy as the “light of Christ” and states:“

“…This is the light of Christ……..Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space – The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, …..”
   Doctrine & Covenants 88: 7, 12-13

This energy is also what connects each of us to everyone else in the world. Just as we are able to talk with someone on the other side of the world nearly instantaneously by telephone are we also connected energetically to that same person.

Frequency or Vibrational Rate

Frequency is the measurable rate of electrical energy flow that is constant between any two points. Everything has frequency, both animate and inanimate objects. The word frequency is often used interchangeably with vibrational rate. Energy healing affects the frequency or vibrational rate of the body.

In 1992 the first frequency monitor in the world was built by Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology in Cheny, Washington. It was determined that the average frequency of a healthy human body generally lies within the 62 to 68 MHz range. Each organ of the body has a different frequency.

The importance of understanding frequency becomes clearer when we realize that when the immune system is compromised a person'’s frequency drops and then illness can set in and as it drops even lower then disease states set in.

This opens the understanding of how what we eat and take into our bodies affects our frequency. What we breathe in and apply on our bodies also affects our frequency. Thought alters our frequency. A quote on page 156 from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne states:

The Body's Energy Systems

The body has several different energy systems that have been known by many cultures for thousands of years. These energy systems include the aura, the meridians, and the chakras. The energy healing modalities on this site work with and affect each of these energy systems.

Aura

Around every person is an energy field with many layers. The inner white layer closest to the body can be easily seen given the right conditions.

For instructions on how to view your aura and to read about my experience learning to see the aura or to learn about maintaining the auric field - click below.

Meridian System of the Body

Through the body run fourteen energy pathways. The meridian system is what acupuncture is based on.  Acupuncture works to dislodge blocks within an energy pathway and help the energy flow smoothly.

Charts of these pathways can be seen at this site:

Chakra System of the Body

In the body are several major energy centers through which the universal life force is taken into the body. Different cultures refer to differing numbers of these energy centers, but the most commonly referred to number of major centers is seven.

Each chakra ties in with an endocrine gland.

Energy Healing or Energy Medicine

Energy healing, also referred to as energy medicine, is based on the belief that the human body is composed of energy fields. When the energy is flowing freely without hinderance in its intended pathways then the body is healthy. Imbalances, blockages, or abnormal amounts of energy indicate a need to be corrected or it will eventually manifest in the physical as a problem or a disease state if it has not already done so.

Disturbances show up in the energy field before they become physical. Energy healing modalities are key to dealing with issues preventively before they become even more difficult to deal with in the physical.

Any modality which deals with the body'’s energy could be referred to as energy medicine. This includes, but is not limited to massage therapy, acupuncture, EFT/Tapping, Reiki, aromatherapy, gemstone therapy, The Emotion Code, Theta healing and reflexology.
