Battling a Sinus Infection

Dealing with a sinus infection seems to be a common problem for many people, unfortunately. That is one issue I have not had to struggle with although several in my family have had that problem.

What I have found is that there is a lot of hope for help in this area. Do not be discouraged! Keep trying until you find what works for you. The first thing you try might even work. Even reducing the length of time of an infection or avoiding antibiotics some of the time are victories in their own right.

Possible Core Emotional Issues

See if something strikes a chord here:

Irritated by someone close to you, Self pity, Being dominating or possessive

For further understanding on the connection between emotional issues and physical ailments go to the emotional healing page.

The Emotion Code

Questions which could be asked in using "The Emotion Code":

"Do I have a trapped emotion in my body causing/contributing to/underlying this sinus infection that I can release now?"

"Do I have a trapped emotion in my body causing this dairy allergy (which is causing my sinus infection) that I can release now?"

Reflexology and Sinus Infections

Shown here is a chart indicating the areas to work the feet for sinus troubles. The dark purple shows the main points to work and the lighter areas are the secondary points to work.

Vita-Flex is a really good technique to use for working the sinus points because it is easy to use all of your fingers to curl around the toes and work almost every toe at once.  Amplify the results even more by working in essential oils.

A fabulous foot reflexology book that I use is Complete Reflexology for Life by Barbara and Kevin Kunz. It has several excellent reference charts.

Essential Oils and Sinus Infections

The stories about what others have done using therapeutic-grade essential oils for sinus infections go on and on. There are a bunch of ideas here. I have picked out a handful of these stories or you can link to the full listing below. Please note the disclaimer below.

The oils and manners of using them that seem to come up the most are listed below.  These oils are specific to Young Living as these are the oils that I love and use.

  • Thieves and/or Frankincense taken internally (5 to 10 drops Thieves, 2 to 3 drops Frankincense in a 00 capsule taken maybe 3 times daily).

  • R.C. applied in the nostrils or combined in with nasal sprays. Could also be applied over the sinus areas.

  • Any of the following diffused or swabbed in the nose: R.C., Purification, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, or Peppermint

  • Myrtle applied topically at least 2 or 3 times each day for a week or more to forehead, temples, and high cheek bone areas (being careful around the eyes – oils sting when they get in the eyes).

  • Thieves Spray sprayed directly in the nose (if you can stand the stinging).

  • Another possibility I have read about is to boil water and then hold your head over the pot breathing in the steam. Add just one or two drops of any of these oils one at a time, breathing until the scent has diminished and then continue adding a drop or two of the next one. Oils: R.C., Raven, Eucalyptus radiata or Eucalyptus globules, Lemon, Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint, Cypress, Melaleuca, Pine, Spruce, Thieves, Immupower, Myrtle, hyssop, Rosemary, Fir
  • Oregano applied with vita-flex technique to reflexology sinus points.

Any of the above mentioned oils or oil blends could be applied to the reflexology points and you can follow the hint or - if you don’'t have the recommended ones then use what you have” and see if what you have helps.

As you can see there are many possibilities for what can be done using the oils. The possibilities are not limited to just the oils I have listed. Try what you have and if you don’t have any then get started. They are awesome!
